{"id":9968,"date":"2020-03-30T17:48:10","date_gmt":"2020-03-31T00:48:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/?p=9968"},"modified":"2025-08-12T21:42:57","modified_gmt":"2025-08-13T04:42:57","slug":"what-does-nearly-5-million-buy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/?p=9968","title":{"rendered":"What Does Nearly <del>$5<\/del> <del>$10<\/del> <del>$16<\/del> 25* million Buy?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s another good question to ask corresponding to the one in my blog post title: how many times does a pattern have to be repeated before it stops looking like just a coincidence and instead looks like something resulting from a prepackaged set of talking points assembled as part of a larger coordinated propaganda effort?<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s recap, for the sake of new readers arriving at this blog: ( <strong>*<\/strong> the money figure in the title is from my <a title=\"4:55 pm\" href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/?p=12705\" rel=\"bookmark\"><time class=\"entry-date\" datetime=\"2021-11-18T16:55:34-07:00\">November 18, 2021<\/time><\/a> updates)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enviro-activists claim that doubt about the settled science of man-caused global warming stems entirely from coordinated fossil fuel industry-orchestrated\/financed disinformation campaigns which, according to supposedly devastating smoking gun leaked memos, employed &#8216;shill scientist experts&#8217; to &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>reposition global warming as theory rather than fact<\/em><\/span>,&#8221; by targeting &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>older, less educated males<\/em><\/span>&#8221; and &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>younger, lower-income women<\/em><\/span>,&#8221; where all the conspirators agreed how their &#8216;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em>victory will be achieved when average citizens &#8216;understand&#8217; (recognize) uncertainties in climate science<\/em><\/span>.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>While the &#8220;reposition global warming&#8221; memo set got a sizable news media splash with publicly of it in <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/NY-Times-1991-reposit.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a July 1991 <em>New York Times<\/em> article<\/a>, it was a one-shot publication involving no followup action afterward; the place that first publicly offered wide and continual dispersal of the memos <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/For-copy-strat-target-OA-1024x855.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">accompanied with accusing analysis<\/a> about industry corruption was the Ozone Action group between 1996 and 2000, headed at that time <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/OA-staff-Passac-Davies2.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">by <strong>John Passacantando<\/strong> and <strong>Kert Davies<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>While the &#8220;Victory will be achieved&#8221; memos got a sizable news media splash with publicly about the &#8220;Action Plan&#8221; they were associated with in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/1998\/04\/26\/us\/industrial-group-plans-to-battle-climate-treaty.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">an April 1998 <em>New York Times<\/em> article<\/a> \u2014 no actual quotes appeared in the article from the memos \u2014 it was a one-shot publication involving no followup action afterward; the place that first publicly offered wide and continual dispersal scans of the memos, <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/GP-98-Victory.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">accompanied with accusing analysis,<\/a> was Greenpeace International beginning in July 1998, with the intention of offering wide and continual publicly dispersal of that accusation material.<\/li>\n<li>John Passacantando merged Ozone Action into Greenpeace USA in 2000 <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/GP-nee-OA-874x1024.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">and took over as its executive director<\/a>. Kert Davies <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Davies-LinkedIn-June-2019.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">joined him at Greenpeace the same year<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>No later than July 2001, Greenpeace <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/GP-01-reposit-Victory-1024x796.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">included both sets of leaked memos<\/a> in their &#8220;Decade of Dirty Tricks&#8221; report.<\/li>\n<li>While both Passacantando and Davies left Greenpeace years later without explanation, both <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/FreeBeacon-Kretzmann-suspects.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">were reunited in 2016<\/a> in apparent efforts with others designed to portray Exxon as a corrupt company pushing humanity toward &#8216;climate chaos.&#8217;<\/li>\n<li>And as others have reported, nearly $5 million has been received by Passacantando after he left Greenpeace, with apparently <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/InflWatch-Our-Next-CIC-1024x804.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">undisclosed portions of that being funneled<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/Davies-no-OA-at-CIC.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kert Davies&#8217; &#8220;Climate Investigations Center.&#8221;<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Kert Davies&#8217; other self-described platform for supposedly leaked industry memos <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/CIC-Davies-ClimFiles.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">is his Climate Files site<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As I said at the end of my February 13, 2020 &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/?p=9687\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Why did the Greenpeace USA Executive Director cross the Road?<\/a>&#8221; blog post, I&#8217;d never actually cared what the promulgators of the &#8216;crooked skeptic climate scientists&#8217; accusation were paid or how they were paid. Up to that point, I was focusing on the smaller ways the accusation falls apart and the specific people connected to it. A rising concern of mine rather recently was the seemingly increasing repetition of what are otherwise two-decade old &#8216;memos evidence collections,&#8217; each set basically <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/?p=7477\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">worthless<\/a> for <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/?p=8211\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">similar reasons<\/a>, that should have gotten all the fame they needed if they were valid evidence more than a decade back.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what I mean by <strong><em>recent<\/em><\/strong> repetition within just the last two years. First, from &#8220;The Real News Network,&#8221; a <em>newer May 2018<\/em> reposting of a video I first detailed back in the last part of <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/?p=5674\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">my September 21, 2017 blog post<\/a> (the one where I noted how the &#8220;reposition global warming&#8221; leaked memo phrase makes the briefest of <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/TRNN-reposit-cameo.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cameo appearances<\/a>):<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/TRNN-reposit-Davies-victory.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Being a rehash of an older video, TRNN at least identified Kert Davies as being connected with Greenpeace in one part of the animation in the video, but identified him more prominently near the beginning as being <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/TRNN-Davies-CIC.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">from the &#8220;Climate Investigations Center.&#8221;<\/a> Later in November 2018, as I noted <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/?p=7975\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>, &#8220;Drilled&#8221; podcast &#8216;reporter&#8217; Amy Westervelt couldn&#8217;t even bring herself to say that much.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Drilled-18-Davies-reposit.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And for good measure, Westervelt covered the &#8220;Victory will be achieved\u2026&#8221; memos in her next podcast, where, as I noted <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/?p=8116\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>, she <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Drilled-18-victory.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">erroneously said<\/a> the memos were <strong><em>published<\/em><\/strong> in a <em>New York Times<\/em> article. Why would a &#8216;reporter&#8217; leap to that conclusion? Hold onto that thought for a bit \u2026<\/p>\n<p>March, 2019, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailykos.com\/stories\/2019\/3\/5\/1839593\/-College-Students-Calling-Out-Climate-Denial-Machine-That-s-Older-Than-They-Are\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">at the DailyKos<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/DailyKos-reposit-Trump.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The goal to goal to &#8216;<em>reposition global warming as theory .. is at the core of President Trump\u2019s ongoing attempts to attack climate science<\/em>???&#8217; Where would a blogger get the ludicrous notion that a 1991-era <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Arnold-corroborates2.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">rejected strategy goal proposal<\/a> for a short-lived pilot project PR campaign is current guidance for President Trump to follow??<\/p>\n<p>April 2019, at the U.S. House Subcommittee on Environment:Climate Change, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.house.gov\/meetings\/GO\/GO28\/20190409\/109294\/HMTG-116-GO28-Transcript-20190409.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Part I: The History of a Consensus and the Causes of Inaction<\/a>,&#8221; PDF file <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/4-19-AOC-API-memos.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">page 29<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Ms. Ocasio-Cortez.<br \/>\nOne last question with the API. In 1998 the American Petroleum Institute created a multimillion dollar multiyear communications plan to create climate skepticism. Mr. Chairman, I ask unanimous consent to add these documents, <strong>which we have obtained<\/strong>, to the record.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Obtained from <strong><em>whom<\/em><\/strong>? <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/4-19-AOC-API-nonsource.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">She doesn&#8217;t say<\/a>, however, <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.house.gov\/meetings\/GO\/GO28\/20190409\/109294\/HMTG-116-GO28-20190409-SD006.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the committee&#8217;s PDF file<\/a> of those docs will look familiar to astute followers of GelbspanFiles who&#8217;ll readily recognize those scans from what I illustrated with screencaptures <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/?p=9795\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>. But Rep Ocasio-Cortez didn&#8217;t confine her mention of the memos to just one hearing.<\/p>\n<p>October 30, 2019, at the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Reform&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.house.gov\/meetings\/GO\/GO02\/20191023\/110126\/HHRG-116-GO02-Transcript-20191023.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Examining the Oil Industry\u2019s Efforts to Suppress the Truth about Climate Change<\/a>&#8221; (part of which I analyzed <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/?p=9222\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a> on a different tangent), from Rep Ocasio-Cortez, <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/10-19-AOC-API-victory.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">page 41<\/a> of the hearing&#8217;s transcript, or alternatively at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bfHt4U0r8Qw&amp;t=7550\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2:05:50 point of the hearing&#8217;s video<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. And in 1998, API\u2019s global science communications team action plan, which involved Exxon, Chevron, Southern Company, and more, laid out the industry\u2019s denial campaign. \u2026<br \/>\n\u2026 They said <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">victory would be achieved when<\/span>, quote, &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">average citizens<\/span>,&#8221; quote\/unquote, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">understand uncertainties in climate science<\/span>. Dr. Garvey, would you say these goals accurately represent the mission of Exxon in the past and today?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Since the memos <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/NPR-LoE-API-OKeefe.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">were <del>unsolicited<\/del><\/a><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>* <\/strong><\/span>by the VP of the API <em>[<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">*<\/span><\/strong>Author&#8217;s 5\/13\/21 note: this is corrected\/clarified <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/?p=11959\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>]<\/em> and Exxon officials at the time could not say that the memos&#8217; plan <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/MJones-API-Victory-never-impl.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">was ever implemented<\/a>, it would by default be impossible for them to represent the mission of Exxon at any time. But why would a Congressional representative insinuate such an erroneous situation exists? Meanwhile, the source for the memos for this particular hearing <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/10-19-Raskin-API-nonsource.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">aren&#8217;t offered<\/a>, but a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wonkette.com\/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-exxonmobil-climate-hearing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">subsequent Wonkette story<\/a> trumpeting Rep Ocasio-Cortez&#8217;s mention of the memos hearing <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Wonkette-API-Victory.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">offers a potential hint<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Ocasio-Cortez underlined that point by reading from a 1998 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.climatefiles.com\/exxonmobil\/1998-global-climate-science-communications-team-action-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">American Petroleum Institute document<\/a> that said &#8220;<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Victory will be achieved when average citizens understand uncertainties in climate science<\/span>.&#8221; Exxon was among the oil companies that contributed to that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.climatefiles.com\/trade-group\/american-petroleum-institute\/1998-global-climate-science-communications-team-action-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;Action Plan,&#8221;<\/a> and <strong>darned if it doesn&#8217;t look like it became the official Republican\/Fox News agenda for talking about science<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Hmm. Perhaps Wonkette could have instead said the memos are &#8220;<em>at the core of Republican&#8217;s\/Fox News&#8217; ongoing attempts to attack climate science<\/em>.&#8221; Meanwhile, click on either of the embedded links within the paragraph, and they both take you to identical pages with different page addresses at Kert Davies&#8217; Climate Files site, each featuring the same <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/GP07-CF-1024x832.jpg\">nine pages of API memos scans<\/a> seen <a href=\"https:\/\/research.greenpeaceusa.org\/?a=view&amp;d=4383\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">at Greenpeace<\/a> back when he worked there with John Passacantando.<\/p>\n<p>Now, much closer to the present time, featuring just the &#8220;reposition global warming&#8221; memos. On February 5th Desmogblog&#8217;s Dana Drugmand <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desmogblog.com\/2020\/02\/05\/california-communities-climate-liability-fossil-fuel-disinformation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">had a report<\/a> on the status of California global warming lawsuits, and it featured a Twitter swipe against Exxon&#8217;s lawyer from a Union of Concerned Scientists activist:<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Desmog-Drugmand-UCS-reposit.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s &#8216;reporter&#8217; Drugmand&#8217;s connection? She&#8217;s also <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Drugmand-CLN-Drilled-Desmog.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a &#8216;reporter&#8217; for &#8220;Climate Liability News&#8221;<\/a> (recently <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/CLN-Drilled-merge.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">merged into Amy Westervelt&#8217;s &#8220;Drilled News&#8221;<\/a>). What&#8217;s the origin of CLN? Their &#8220;About us&#8221; says it&#8217;s is a project funded by donations to Climate Communications &amp; Law, and the CCL Board is <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/CCLbrd.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">topped by Kert Davies, Executive Director of the Climate Investigations Center<\/a>. What&#8217;s the Union of Concerned Scientists&#8217; connection? They source the &#8220;reposition global warming memos&#8221; <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/UCS-cites-GP-OA.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">in their Climate Deception Dossiers<\/a> from Greenpeace&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/research.greenpeaceusa.org\/?a=view&amp;d=2950\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ozone Action-era scans<\/a> of the memos. Ozone Action being the place where Kert Davies and John Passacantando were first seen together, as I noted at the top of this post. What&#8217;s the additional &#8220;Drilled&#8221; connection here? As I also noted above, Amy Westervelt&#8217;s &#8220;Drilled&#8221; podcasts featured Kert Davies as her go-to &#8220;documents&#8221; guy for the &#8220;reposition global warming&#8221; memos.<\/p>\n<p>Last but not least for this exercise of finding recent repeats of decades-old worthless &#8216;leaked memos,&#8217; why not place both the &#8220;reposition global warming&#8221; memos and the &#8220;victory will be achieved \u2026&#8221; memos into a narrative where they can be woven together to insinuate a continuous and industry plot? From February 20th, at The Mic:<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Mic-reposit-victory.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click on the embedded underlined links <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mic.com\/p\/how-climate-change-became-a-partisan-issue-21817923\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">at the Mic report<\/a> for each of the respective references to the leaked memos, and the first goes to Kert Davies&#8217; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.climatefiles.com\/denial-groups\/ice-ad-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;ICE campaign ads&#8221; Climate Files page<\/a> which also has the &#8220;reposition global warming&#8221; memos scans, the second goes to his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/3119453-1991-Informed-Citizens-for-the-Environment.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CIC &#8220;reposition&#8221; memos-only page<\/a>, and the third is for his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.climatefiles.com\/trade-group\/american-petroleum-institute\/1998-global-climate-science-communications-team-action-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;Victory&#8221; memos page<\/a>. But why would the &#8220;Mic&#8221; &#8216;reporter&#8217; string two <strong><em>totally unrelated<\/em><\/strong> sets of leaked memos together like that, and where on Earth did he get the one-word expanded name &#8220;<em>Information Council on the Environment <strong>Climate<\/strong><\/em>&#8220;??<\/p>\n<p>To drive home what the far larger problem may be, have a look at how this stunt by the &#8220;Mic&#8221; &#8216;reporter&#8217; was not a new or clever thing to do: Back in 2006, we have the following <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/WNT\/GlobalWarming\/story?id=1770428\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">from ABC News<\/a>, blending no less than Ross Gelbspan into the mix:<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/ABC-06-Gelb-Victory-redefine.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gelbspan&#8217;s connection to John Passacantando and Kert Davies being \u2014 don&#8217;t forget \u2014 being how they <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/OA-Gelb-obtained-v2.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mutually &#8216;obtained&#8217;<\/a> the &#8220;reposition global warming&#8221; memos, along with their more <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Gelb-FB-Passac-Davies-1024x861.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recent Facebook Friendships<\/a> and an apparently exclusive-to-Gelbspan&#8217;s HeatIsOnline <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heatisonline.org\/contentserver\/objecthandlers\/index.cfm?id=6962&amp;method=full\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">May 26\/27, 2008 Greenpeace press release<\/a> linking to Greenpeace&#8217;s &#8220;victory memos&#8221; scans <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/HiO-Davies-Victory.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">while quoting Kert Davies<\/a>.
