{"id":3834,"date":"2016-04-20T17:52:10","date_gmt":"2016-04-21T00:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/?page_id=3834"},"modified":"2026-01-20T18:52:38","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T01:52:38","slug":"pbs-newshour-bias-tally-42016-33-to-0","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/?page_id=3834","title":{"rendered":"NewsHour Global Warming Bias Tally, Updated 1\/20\/26: 136 to 0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As of<\/span> 1\/20\/26<\/span>, the bias ratio now stands at <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">136<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0governmental agency scientists (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IPCC<\/a> \/ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NASA<\/a> \/ <a href=\"http:\/\/www.noaa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NOAA<\/a>, agreeing with the idea of catastrophic man-caused global warming) to <strong>zero<\/strong> scientists from the skeptic side, <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">resulting from the <em><strong>5th<\/strong><\/em> appearance of Dr David Holland on Jan 19, 2026<\/span>\u00a0\u2014 <span style=\"color: #000000;\">red-highlighted <\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">within the IPCC section below.<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">All updates here are red-highlighted<\/span> for ease of finding them.<\/p>\n<p>This page features just the bias ratio tally and brief reference links to directly related NewsHour biased reporting analysis. The prior lengthy paragraph setup\/update descriptions is at the archive page I created <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.is\/Zxz4p\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As of this latest update, going back to the 1996 start of the NewsHour&#8217;s previously seen online archives for &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20140130052855\/http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/topic\/environment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Environment<\/a>&#8221; and &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20140130053045\/http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/topic\/climate-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Climate Change<\/a>&#8221; (both &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20140311135206\/http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/topic\/climate-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">not found<\/a>&#8221; some time after January 2014), the program has had direct discussions or prominent mentions of the global warming topic approximately <strong>1,<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">7<\/span>84<\/span><\/strong> times, in which only <span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>seven<\/strong><\/span> of those featured any semblance of purely science points from the skeptical side of the issue, and none of those came from scientists<\/p>\n<p>At some future time, I&#8217;ll have a PDF file link or some other text file here documenting this <em>overall<\/em> bias ratio on global warming reporting at the NewsHour, consisting of weblinks to full context NewsHour broadcast transcripts along with key transcript sentences. Much like the entry immediately above for Dr Ebi, she offers a brief comment, but this time she is <em><strong>not<\/strong><\/em> identified by her IPCC association; <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Kristie-Ebi-IPCC-Wash-U.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">her current Washington State U bio page<\/a> nevertheless lists her as an author of an IPCC AR6 report along with an IPCC Special Report, and the IPCC itself lists her in their AR6 Chapter 7 <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Kristie-Ebi-AR6-Chap-7.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">as a Lead Author<\/a>.<br \/>\n<span class=\"st\">\u2022<\/span> Sebastian Mernild \u2013 <strong>1<\/strong>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/bb\/norways-government-made-electric-cars-irresistible\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">May 29, 2017<\/a>. While not identified as such in this NewsHour segment, Dr Shepherd fits the bill as either a NASA or NOAA scientist from <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/ShepherdIPCC-NASA-1024x639.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">his own bio page<\/a>, but I place him here since he also states he was a contributing author to the IPCC&#8217;s 2007 AR4 report.<br \/>\n<span class=\"st\">\u2022<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Kerry Emanuel \u2013 <strong>3<\/strong>:<\/span>\u00a0#1 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/bb\/climate-change-make-recent-extreme-storms-worse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">August 30, 2017<\/a>. NOAA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/cpo.noaa.gov\/Meet-the-Divisions\/Climate-and-Societal-Interactions\/RISA\/RISA-Teams\/SCIPP\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SCIPP page<\/a> features Dr Needham\u2019s name six times &#8211; here\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Needham-NOAA-CPO.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a screencapture<\/a> of four of them &#8211; and the page also <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/NOAA-CPO-SCIPP.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">notes how<\/a> SCIPP is a \u201c<em>team supported by the Climate Program Office at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)<\/em>.\u201d When people see NOAA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/cpo.noaa.gov\/Who-We-Are\/About-CPO\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Climate Program Office page<\/a>, there is no doubt that they support <a href=\"http:\/\/gelbspanfiles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/NOAA-CPO.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the IPCC side<\/a> of the global warming issue (until directed otherwise under the Trump administration).
